Blue Ribbon Programming

The mission of the Solon Blue Ribbon Program is to provide high quality recreation and leisure activities for persons with disabilities, enabling each to enhance his or her personal potential by sharing in the emotional, social and physical benefits fostered by such community based activities.

Cinema Cruisers
Join us as we take Blue Ribbon fun into the community! Participants will enjoy dinner at a local Solon Restaurant and see a movie at Solon Cinemas. Fee includes dinner and a movie ticket.
Who: Persons with disabilities age 16 and over Location: Meet at the Solon Community Center
Dates: Friday, April 4, 2008 and Friday, May 23, 2008 Limit: 10 Participants
Time: 5:30 PM and will return to the Solon Community Center approx. 10:00 PM
Fee: $30.00 per date
 
Softball Clinic
Prepare for the softball season by attending this clinic of fundamental skills. We will practice batting, running, throwing and various field skills. Fun is included.
Who: Persons with disabilities age 13 and over Location: Solon Community Center Gymnasium
Dates: Thursdays, April 24 - May 15, 2008 Limit: 16 Particpants
Time: 6:45 PM - 8:00 PM
Fee: $30.00
 
Softball League
Join us for the fifth year of our Adapted Baseball Program! Everyone participates, all abilities welcome and play is adapted to individual needs. We have both adult and youth league teams. Fee includes team baseball hat and shirt. The deadline to register is Thursday, June 5, 2008. The League Party will be held on Sunday, July 20, 2008 or will be a rain date if needed.
Who: Persons with disabilities age 5 and over Time: 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Dates: Sundays, June 8 - July 13, 2008 Location: Solon Community Park Fields #6-9
Fee: $35.00
 
Friday Night Fun Nights
Join is monthly for a theme night that allows participants to socialize and share with their peers in a variety of settings. Ages for these events is 13 and over.
Friday, April 18, 2008 - Prom Night
Enjoy a night of dancing to the theme Jungle Nights all dressed up in your best clothes. This event is in collaboration with the Solon High School CEC Club. Food and refreshments will be served. Deadline to register is April 15, 2008.
Location: Solon Community Center Banquet Rooms Fee: $7.00
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM Limit: 100 Participants
 
Friday, May 9, 2008 - Cosmic Bowling
We have 10 lanes reserved specifically for us! Bowl under the black light with great music. Bowling will be at the Solon Freeway Lanes 33185 Bainbridge Rd Solon, OH 44139. Drop off and Pick up will be at the Lanes. The fee includes bowling shoes, two slices of pizza and pop. Deadline to register is April 30, 2008.
Location: Solon Freeway Lanes Fee: $15.00
Time: 6:45 PM - 9:00 PM Limit: 40 Participants
 
Friday, June 20, 2008 - Cookout and Volleyball
Join us for the start of summer fun. Enjoy grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and sand volleyball. Deadline to register is June 18, 2008.
Location: Solon Community Park Pavilion Fee: $7.00
Time: 6:30 PM - 9:00 PM Limit: 50 Participants
 
Friday, July 18, 2008 - Pool Party in Mayfield Village
Come enjoy a great time swimming at Parkview Pool. This pool offers a zero to 42" depth play area and slide. A picinic shelter and grilles have been reserved next to the pool for an enjoyable cookout. Fee includes admission and dinner. Parkview Pool is located at 425 Noth Commons Blvd. Mayfield Village. Deadline to register is July 11, 2008.
Location: Parkview Pool in Mayfield Village Fee: $8.00
Time: 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM Limit: 50 Participants
