Participating in a special event through the Solon Recreation Department are excellent ways to meet other residents in a fun and exciting atmosphere. Events such as Casino Night and Road Rally for adults are fun filled evenings where grown ups can relax and play games. Other events such as Home Days and Movies in the Park are perfect opportunities for families and friends to spend quality time participating in activities together.

The Solon Recreation Department is constantly striving to provide fun, leisure activities for its community members. It is the feeling of the entire department that community based special events promote good relationships, good health and good will for anyone who willing to participate.

CASINO NIGHT:  Join the Solon Recreation Department and hit the jackpot in our no risk, gambler's paradise! We will transform the Solon Community Center into Solon's premier Casino with roulette, black jack, reverse raffle and much, much more! As you enter the Casino, you will receive $10,000 in poker chips! (No, it's not real $$!) Whether you bet it all at once or slowly calculate your strategies, there are no worries because it's all for fun and fabulous prizes! We will even include some great finger foods and the wash! (But you can bring the hard stuff if you like!) Come and see what everyone has been talking about as we turn Solon into our own Mini-Vegas! This program is for Adults, 21 and over.

DADDY/DAUGHTER DANCE:  Hey Dads, grab that special girl and join us for a night where dreams come true!  This will be an evening to remember for each of you as you dance and party the night away.  This dance is for girls in Kindergarten through 4th grade ONLY and their daddies! Each couple will receive a Polaroid picture for their scrapbook, a party favor and refreshments.  See you at the coolest party in town!

FAMILY FEUD NIGHT: Join us in the Annual Family Feud Night.  If you didn’t play last year…you missed out on a night full of fun and laughter.  Do you think you and 5 of your closest family members or friends could beat the rest of the teams playing this game?  Then gather them up and register as a team to compete.  Each team will get to play 3 games consisting of 2 rounds.  We’ll keep track of points and the top two teams will play in the final championship round.  Appetizers and finger foods will be served throughout the evening.  As always, we’ll include the wash…so feel free to bring your own alcohol.  Go round up your siblings, parents, cousins, aunts, uncles or even your friends and register today.  Each team must consist of at lease one Solon resident.  There is a maximum of 24 teams!  Each team must consist of 6 members.  This program is for Adults, 21 and over!  This program fills very fast, register early!

FIREWORKS:  Solon will once again host a Firework Celebration on July 4^th! Come to the Community Park on the evening of July 4th to celebrate our great nation's birthday! Picnic on the grounds and watch a magnificent fire works show set to patriotic music! Fireworks will start at about 9:30 p.m. weather permitting. Parking is available at the Community Park, Portz Parkway parking lot, the Solon Middle School parking lot or at the High School.

MOVIES IN THE PARK:  Join us in the summer at the Community Park to watch some of your favorite movies.  Events are free…so pack up the kids, lawn chairs, blankets and goodies and meet us there!  Movies will start at dark.  Watch the sign at the Community Park to see what movies we’ll be watching!

SOLON HOME DAYS:  The City of Solon will host its Annual Home Days Festival for 4-days in July.  As always, we'll host many great entertainment venues, a fantastic raffle, amusement rides and lots of fun and games for kids of all ages. Look for us at the Community Park in the end of July!

ROAD RALLY:  Ladies and Gentleman, START YOUR ENGINES!  We are proud to once again host the City of Solon Recreation Department ROAD RALLY!!  This will be our 7^th Road Rally and we are excited to once again see who will reign as our Road Rally Champions.  As always, the Road Rally will be filled with twists, turns and tasks.  Each team must consist of 4 to 6 players.  Dinner will be served at 6:15 p.m. and appetizers and desserts will be available at the end.  Fill up your gas tank and come prepared to solve clues to your destinations, complete wacky tasks and laugh the night away.  The Road Rally fills fast, so if you want to play…you better get in fast to register.  There is a limit of 25 teams!  See you at the starting line!

HOLIDAY HELPER:  Bring the joy of the season to you and your family when Santa makes a special stop at your house in early December.  There are only 35 stops, so sign up early.  Once registration is over, we’ll call you to let you know the time we’ll be on your street.  Register and drop off a package for someone special at the Community Center.  We’ll help you create a lifelong holiday memory!
