BASKETBALL

The Solon Recreation Department youth basketball program is divided into an introductory pee wee clinic as well as organized leagues.  Boys and girls in grades 3 through 6 compete in separate gender minor (grades 3 & 4) and major (grades 5 & 6) leagues.  Pee Wee basketball program is an instructional clinic for boys and girls in grades 1st and 2nd.  Minor and Major basketball teams are selected VIA coaches draft after player evaluations.

 

Pee Wee basketball clinic is a six week program held on Saturday mornings in the community center.  Minor and Major leagues practices and game schedules are put together by the Solon Recreation Department based on school availability.

All Solon Recreation Basketball leagues focus on basic fundamentals, skill development, and teamwork. [top]


ADULT OPEN BASKETBALL

The Solon Recreation Department offers an open basketball program on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings throughout the school year.  This program is open to all adults 18 & over who either live, work or have graduated from Solon High School.   

 

The pick up basketball games are held on Wednesdays at Orchard Middle School and Saturday at SMS.  This basketball league is fun for all adults who want to keep in shape but still have some competitive edge. [top] 


BASEBALL/SOFTBALL

The Solon Recreation Department offers baseball and softball programs to all Solon boys and girls from Kindergarten through the Ninth Grade. There are separate leagues for boys and girls. 

 

These programs, like other Solon Recreation Department programs, are structured to teach game fundamentals, individual skills, sportsmanship and teamwork in a recreational setting. 

 

Players are divided into teams at the lower levels by neighborhoods and schools. At the upper levels (fifth grade and above), players are selected for teams after participating in player evaluations. 

The Solon Recreation Department encourages parents to volunteer as coaches as their involvement enhances the program.  [top]


SOCCER

The Solon Recreation Department Youth Soccer Program is designed to provide Solon’s youth with the opportunity to play soccer, learn game fundamentals, learn basic and advanced skills, experience teamwork and sportsmanship, while enjoying the sport in an exciting and recreational environment. 

 

Leagues are offered for boys and girls from Kindergarten through sixth grade. The leagues are separated by gender except for Kindergarten which is Co-Ed. Soccer games are played in the fall and in the spring on Saturdays and Sundays. Practices are held at the discretion of the coach, unless assigned by the Solon Recreation Department. Teams are organized on the basis of neighborhoods and schools.

FOOTBALL

The Solon Recreation Department Flag Football Program is designed for children currently in grades one through six.  This program focuses on teaching basic fundamental rules of football, game strategies, teamwork, and camaraderie.

 

There are three separate leagues: Pee Wee, Minors, and Majors.  Pee Wee division is for children currently in grades 1 & 2.  The teams are selected by the Solon Recreation Department based upon schools and neighborhoods.  Minor Division (3rd & 4th grade) and Major Division (5th & 6th grade) are selected VIA coaches draft after player evaluations.  [top]  


CAMPS & CLINICS

The Solon Recreation Department in conjunction with the Solon High School Athletic Department offers a wide variety of sport camps throughout the summer.  The instructors for these camps are comprised of Solon High School varsity coaches and their staff, other local coaches, and Solon High School student athletes.

 

These camps have been designed to introduce participants to game fundamentals, strategies, individual skills, sportsmanship and teamwork in a fun relaxed learning environment. [top]


TENNIS

The Solon Recreation Department offers a wide variety of youth and adult tennis programs throughout the summer months.  The instructors for the tennis programs are past and current Solon High School tennis players.

 

The Department offers tennis lessons for the youth and adults, youth tennis camps, tiny tot tennis and adult tennis leagues in the summer months.  These programs are designed to teach the basics of tennis in fun filled learning environment. [top]  


VOLLEYBALL

Adult Open Volleyball
The Solon Recreation Department offers an open volleyball program on Wednesday nights throughout the school year.  This program is open to all adults 18 & over who either live, work or have graduated from Solon High School.
